5/22
Great fishing for this time of year landing 5 bass 26 inches to 33 inches, seems like their hanging around even in this warm weather.

5/20
Water conditions got a little bit of color in to it from a small hard rain storm which really got the stripers bitting. 13 total bites and we converted 8 off them into catches.

5/19
Water conditions was ultra clear making it a little tough to get bites but we landed 3 stripers all over 34 inches.

5/18

04/30/10
Fishing has been good for the last two weeks, but it is only picking up. Friday we fished and had a lot of run offs, 3 fish that were hooked for more than a mintute, and we landed 3 fish. The crew was Kyle age 13, Eric age 11 and their father Kurt. Kyle caught two stripers one was in the 28 in. range and the other was a 29.5 10lbs striper. Eric caught the largest Striper of the night 29.75 in. and almost 12 lbs.

04/15/10   Catch Report

Another day on the Delaware river. Nice and warm with a nice breeze. Herring fishing still tough but they are there. The shad fish has slowed down a slight bit but they are still in thick. The bass fishing was good, no real big fish yet! We tagged a 32 in,  34 in and caught another 31 in. We missed about 6 run offs due to a circle hook turn back on the bait and what I think where smaller fish that just could not get the herring all the way down. Over all the striped bass fishing at Trenton is picking up and it is just a matter of time before it breaks loose!!!!

04/13/10

We fished high tide on a rainy cold day. The water color was off and the water temp is 54 degrees. We found herring but they where to tough to catch! Ended up with about 17 or so of them. Shad fishing was still explosive with a good deal of numbers being caught. We focused on herring and of course stripers, making 5 drifts we land 4 fish. A 28.5 in, 33 in, 29.5, and a 29 in fish. I tagged 3 of the four fish and recovered a tag from the national fisheries. (still waiting to hear back from them on the details of that fish).

04/12/10

Fished the Delaware river up at Trenton. Shad action was epic, caught and lost double digit shads. Herring fishing was the total opposite. I managed one herring in three hours of jigging. With that one herring we ended up with a 43 incher. Caught in the rapids just before for dark.

04/11/10

Great news! With in the last few days the herring fishing has Turned on and the Striper fishing has been good as well as one of the best Shad bites I have seen in a while. Most shad are big Females with some nice weight to them. The stripers have been biting well with small larger fish mixed in with small 25 inch fish. I will be out tomorrow!

Started fishing at 6:00 friday night. I caught about 12 herring and head north. First pitch I Drift a herring and pick up a 33 inch bass instantly, drifted the strecth one more time no pick ups. I anchored up in one of the main slots and live lined and chunked. With in 10 minutes I picked up a 31 inch bass. I move about 50 yards towards jersey and anchored again. Fished about 25 minutes and l picked up one bass on a chunk it ended up being a fat 30 inch hybrid bass, my first to date. Move once agian back towards the center, the sun was down and the bite got hot. I put out three rods, one live and two chunk baits. The herring got no hits but the chunks baits were getting torn up. I caught 6 fish on chunk bait in the time span of about an hour and half. The 6 fish consisted of a 36 incher that ran like a freight train, a 33 incher, two 31 inchers, a 30 incher, and a whopper that measure 19 inches. It was a perfect night for fishing at Trenton everything came together. The perfect tide, weather, and a great Striper bite. I don't know how long the bass and herring will stay at Trenton but if want to get out on the bite Give Me a call 215 840 3093

Fished at about 9:00 got herring quick ran up above and hooked up before my anchor hit the bottom, fish was a fat 26in bass. Drifted the boat two drifts above the bridges no hits, moved to my hot spot. One bait in the back, way back picked up a nice 38in fish that a heart and a half. After the bait was slammed he ran down stream like a champ, thought about pulling the anchor but looked down at my new Cabela’s bait feed load with 17lb suffix and let him run. It took a good bit of strength to pull him back up the river but my 8 foot tide master 15-25lb St.Croix did what its was built to do.

It is a great day when you fish circle hooks and you go two for two. Shortly after that monster of a bass I picked up and left for work. A good two hours on the water despite the on and off rain and the south wind in my face. I think that Trenton has seen it's days and the bass will be moving out shortly. It was a shame my client canceled I think if we got on it early in the morning we could have beat the stripers up pretty good.

Rain for the next 5 days!!!!

Fished Trenton for Striped bass on a rainy overcast may morning. We live lined herring and used cut baits. Results was 7 fish, one being a 36 in. 20 pounder and rest of the fish were in the 28-33 inch range with nice fat bellys. It was great action all morining through out the high tide. Most fish were caught on a live herring drift, a few caught on cut baits, and one was caught on a pitch a pitch bait aimed at bass that were breaking the surface and chasing herring around. The bass were moving up the river and pinning baits on the shallow rock bars.

Fished from 9:00 am to 11:00am, Caught herring quick and drifted them above the first Bridge. First Drift landed a 29 inch Striper, 2nd Drift landed a 37 inch Striper. I picked up 6 fish drifting through the bridges. I picked up and moved Dead even with the dam, Drifting live baits back picking up a few fish then moving further up. I anchored and put out cut baits and a live bait. I got two double headers and a monster catfish about 15 pounds. Over all I caught 13 Stripers in the range of 28-37 inches and the majority being 31's and 32's. I great morning session before work even dealing with a pretty low tide. Before I took out at the ramp made a drift and got slammed by a monster, I failed to set the hook and lost him. With my last bait dead I decided to dead drift it and jerk em like I do with dead shinners. To my suprise I got slammed and my bait was stripped. Overall a great morning on the Delaware River, Trenton Style fishing.

I fished trenton at high tide. Tough fishing for herring, maybe the tide was not running enough but we managed 5 herring. Fished under night cover in the rapids above Trenton. We had two run offs and landed two bass. One was 26 inch, the other was 30 inch. They put up great fights in the shallow rapids, had to pull the hook on both of them to chase them down river. There is nothing more exciting then catching bass at Trenton other than maybe New hope. These bass slam bait and run down stream like you would think a 40 incher would. Tell you the truth I think the 26-36in. range fish fight alot better than those big pigs. Anyways I Plug well my client live lined one slam on a popper but bad results. I think in another week the bass should pile up in Trenton and maybe find there way up to Scuddders falls which is another great place to fish for them.

Well it was one of the most beautiful days out on the water, 90 degrees and a nice 10-15 mph wind. We started the day off plugging a little late around 7:30 am. We decide to run below the bridges at Trenton  and fish for herring. With in two jigs I hooked up with a herring I thought maybe they would finally be here in numbers. But that was all. So we ran up above the bridges and  freelined the herring with in a forty feet of stripping line we hooked up with a fat litle 30 inch bass. After using our only live bait we explored south to find herring and get back on the striper bite. We look at all the boats not catching or only catching one or two until we stopped at a ridge just off the Jersey side just north of the ramp where we banged out 17 herring, all that I could keep alive in my tub. We ran back up above the bridges at dead low tide through the rapids most people won't attemp and had the entire north end to our selves. We had very bad luck having 12 run offs and no hook ups. I'm thinking of going back to the old Trenton stinger rigs. From what I can tell of the run offs is that the bass must be small up there right now. The herring came back looking like tigers, having about 4 bite markes on them. Any day the bass will be at Trenton in numbers and the water Temp will reach the magical 58 degrees. I will be back on it Monday at high tide to see what I can't find up there.
Good luck, heavy nets and tight lines!

Fun fished today all the down to the Betsy Ross bridge and all the way up to Linden ave. We splached Herring heads and chunks with a herring slurry that we made fresh and nothing but catfish. About a dozen and a half or so with the biggest being 6 lbs. Not what I expected at all. I hope these Stripers start opening there mouths.  It was a great day to be out on the river, I just thought that with the lack of herring around that we would have been into the bass pretty good. We fished in about 12-18 foot of water. Everyone today seem to have the same results and talked of those 30-40 lbs caught in the last few days. I will fish Trenton tommorow hopefully naill the bass on plugs then live linning herring.

Fished Sat. and Sunday not much going on at Trenton not much going on. A caught a few herring and shad, you have to work for the herring and shad come through think and than thin. Shad were caught on spoons (gold) with red and white being the best one but green and black caught and orange caught. I went out on monday for two hours on the lower river and got a few bites but it was very slow. Billy caught 4 bass all short and some other people caught some that were up to 31in. Fished today (wensday) Caught a hand full of shad, herring bite was none existing. I plugged from the top of the rapids at Trenton all the way to the first bridge. Early Moring Had to short bites on a popper no bites on swimmers or on shad baits. Overall it is still slow and until the herring show up in numbers the bass fishing at Trenton will be slow!

Went fishing off the Delaware River in a small creek that is a tributary of the Delaware. Caught two Bass one was about 1.5 lbs and another one was about 6.0 lbs full of eggs and food weighed on the fishermen's scale.. I can't wait for the next week or so to come because this is just the start of the monster river bass that pile up and spawn. After the Largemouth bass are done the smallies move in like clock work. This is the time to catch the biggest smallies and largemouth bass in quantity and in quality. The best part is when you get to sight fish for these bruisers.

Striper fishing has really started to heat up this last week. I am putting the finishing touches on the small boat and hope to be on the river this week and slamming some stripers. Talk of a ton of smaller bass caught in numbers and some larger bass mixed in. Herring seem to be up at trenton now, but not in numbers. Shad have been taken at Trenton, scudders, Lambertville, new hope and north.

Delaware river temp is back down to 48 degrees
Water Conditions are stained to very stained

April is surely going to bring May flowers. Yet another day of much needed rain but it will add to the muddy conditions of the Delaware river. I was planning on getting out today and chunking the lower river to see what kind of action I would be  able to find. I guess today is a day to relax and tie some new rigs up.  Delaware river water temp. went back down to 50 degrees. It Is only a matter time before the flowers and trees start to bud and blossom and the bass come north to feed and mate. It is just a waiting game right now.

Trout action has been good in the Penny pack Creek and Neshimany. Shallow Farm ponds in Newton, South Hampton, Bristol and Bensalem have started to produce some nice catches of largemouth bass. The large smallmouth bass have moved in to the tidal areas of the Neshimany creek and this time of year they get very large up to 7 pounds. The best way to catch these pigs is by using live shinners. They are expensive and die fairly quick but on the hook they are unbeatable. Shad action in the river has picked up and will continue to do so. Muddy water will give these fish a chance to run north.
