Delaware River American Shad

Spring is upon us.

I know last weekend was a tease and the weather is back in the 30's with possible snow still coming. Believe or not this the perfect situation for fishing. Having a year where we will actually have snow melt will keep the Delaware River full of water and a slight bit cooler for longer, which is Great for American Shad and Stripers fishing. The American Shad, which has been absolutely epic and out of control for the last three years is building to be even better this year. The class of fish have been in the 3-7 lbs range in the previous years and I can see this year being more roe's than last year. If you have never fished for American Shad you have no idea what you are missing. Shad jump, run, and fight with everything they have. It is not uncommon to have 2-5 fish hooked up at once and have to do the "blue fish" dance to land fish. We had about 25 days last year with 20 plus fish and only two days where no shad were caught due to muddy conditions.

When you hook a shad on a 4-10 lbs rod and 6 lbs test you will be hooked for life! This is a great fish to get you friend who doesn't really fish out, your wife, your kids, or a buddy that like to smoke cigars. The boat is very comfortable and very stable.
